Heartland, the former Nigeria Premier Football League champions, have taken drastic measures after suffering a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Plateau United.
The club’s management has decided to cut the players’ salaries in half until further notice, citing the urgent need for an improvement in the team’s performance.
Heartland currently sits at the bottom of the NPFL table and faces a challenging battle to maintain their top-flight status.
The General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu, emphasized that additional sanctions might be imposed if the players do not elevate their game.
The team is set to face Sunshine Stars in their next NPFL fixture on Sunday.
