South Africa Head Coach Hugo Broos has stated that he would not want his team to lose to Nigeria despite having six games to play.
The South Africa gaffer also emphasized that the team’s upcoming clash with the Super Eagles in Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo will not be driven by revenge.
Recall that the Super Eagles had eliminated Bafana Bafana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on penalties, having played 1-1 draw.
Broos stressed that his team’s focus is on delivering a strong performance to secure the three points available at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, or at least a point.
“We want to have a good result against Nigeria because this is a qualifier for the World Cup and we don’t think about revenge,” Broos said
“Losing the game should not be a disaster because after that we still have six games to play. But I would rather not have a defeat to Nigeria.”
