Ibitoye Explains Rohr’s Inclusion Of Four New Invitees

Date:

Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye has explained that the decision of the team’s handler, Gernot Rohr to include for new invitees in his latest roster is because the Franco-German tactician wants to see committeeman’s from younger players.

While admitting that the upcoming match against Seychelles is a must-win for the Eagles, Ibitoye said some fresh call-ups will get their chance to shine with the team because Rohr wants young ones to also stand out for the nation.

Though Ibitoye stated that young players are ready to take up key slots in the Eagles, he also affirmed that Chelsea winger, Victor Moses will be welcomed back should he rescind his decision to commence international retirement.

Ibitoye said the team will be happy to have Moses back, should he at any point decide to return, but stressed that the focus for now is on the September 7 second match of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers away to Seychelles.

He said: “Victor Moses is one of our very best players but we respect his decision to quit. But we have also seen many players retire and then come back.

“We will therefore be happy to welcome him back to the team with open arms. At the same time, we hope some young players to step up and throw up other options for us.

“This is a must-win for us and so we will get the strongest squad to get the result. The coach is looking at younger players to now step up. We hope to qualify and do the nation proud at the AFCON.”
