Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has received a January transfer quotation of £20m, which any club eager to sign him will have to pay his current club.
In spite of recent reports indicating that Ighalo has opted to stay put at Yatai, despite their relegation to the lower division in China, transfer interests keep swirling round him, and footballllive.nbg gathered that his present employers want a huge payday should he decide to leave.
The former Prime FC of Oshogbo, Julius Berger FC of Lagos, Lyn Oslo of Norway, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain and Watford of England striker has delivered in his two seasons in China.
After firing 15 goals in his debut season and 21 goals this year, interest in his signature refuses to fade away, such that he could still be courted when the Chinese Super League transfer window opens on January 4.
In the past season, Ighalo, despite being riddle by injuries, was six goals behind the league’s top scorer, Wu Lei of champions Shanghai SIPG, and Yatai hope to recoup the money they splashed on Ighalo two years ago.
A source close to the Super Eagles attacker affirmed: “Odion won’t go on a cheap. His club will want to recoup what they spent on him.”
