Ighalo was o the losing side, despite netting a 68th minute penalty for his side, at home In Changchun’s People Stadium, with his goal initially taking the scoreline to 3-1.
Ighalo will now seek a better result next time out, when he and his teammates travel to face fellow-Nigerian, John Mikel Obi’s Tianjin Teda in their last game before the international break.
With six games remaining before the end of the 2018 season, the Chinese Super League title is out of reach for Ighalo’s side, as they trail Shanghai SIPG FC by 23 points.
Ighalo, though, is still targeting personal glory, as he seeks to break his personal goals record in a single season, as he is only two short of matching 20 he netted for Watford during the 2014-15 season in England’s lower division.
Of his 33 goals in the Chinese Super League since joining Yatai in January 2017, Guizhou Zhicheng are his favorite victims, with seven times against them, and Ighalo would set a new personal record if he scores three more before the end of the season.
