Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo is heading back to his club this weekend, as he finally joins up for preseason training with the Chinese Super League outfit.
Ighalo was granted an extended summer break, on account of his outings at the World Cup with Nigeria’s Super Eagles, and took the opportunity to holiday in Greece with his family.
With the time allotted him now over, the former Lyn Oslo of Norway, Granada of Spain, Udinese of Italy and Watford of England striker is heading back to China.
Yatai officials revealed that Ighalo is expected to return on Friday, ahead of their league clash next weekend.
Ighalo said he has put his World Cup woes behind him and now hopes to become Yatai’s record goals scorer, in his efforts to propel them to a respectable finish on the CSL log.
Prior to the World Cup, Ighalo struck seven goals in April, including four on one evening, to equal the club’s record for most by any of their players in a single CSL match.
Ighalo also scored against Guangzhou Hengfeng in the same month, to end up with the accolade of best player for the month of April.
