Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo says he aims to achieve greater things on personal and team levels with the club this season, as he has set his sight on getting a better second term in the Chinese Super League.
Ighalo finished Yatai’s top scorer in his debut season with the club during the past campaign but, after netting a goal and getting an assist in their first pre-season game, the Super Eagles star believes he has already seen early signs of better things to come for him in China.
Ighalo continued from where he left off last season for his Chinese club, as he put up a man of the match performance in a 3-0 drubbing of FC Sfintul Gheorghe during a preseason friendly played in Spain.
Ighalo opened the scoring early in the first half to set his side on their way to victory, and was again involved in the second, after setting up his pal to put his side 2-0 up before the break.
Though the former Watford striker was replaced just before the hour mark, Ighalo said he was happy to be back on the pitch of play after the break and wants to fully concentrate on getting fit ahead of the new season.
“It was a good game for us; although it was just a friendly game, I believe this kind of match will get the team into shape ahead of the new season.
“I just want to concentrate and have a good preseason and start the season on a high, hopefully we can better our previous achievement,” Ighalo said.
