Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo may end up being sad on a team level, despite his haul of goals this season, as his club are facing relegation from the Chinese Super League.
Though Ighalo has been able to set a new total haul of personal hits on target this season, footballlive.ng can report that he is not enjoying as much success on the collective scale with Yatai.
The club’s woes reached a head at the weekend, as Ighalo fired blank in Yatai’s 2-0 loss away to Shandong Luneng, which thew them into a battle against relegation.
Ighalo had five shots on goal, the most by any player in the game, but he failed to hit the net in 90 minutes on the pitch.
Despite Ighalo remaining second on the CSL goal scorers’s chart, Yatai dropped to 12th in the 16 team league table, with two matches left to play in the season.
However, Ighalo is not the only Nigerian facing relegation in China, as Yatai are three points above John Mikel Obi’s Tianjin Teda, which lie almost doomed in the drop zone.
