Kelechi Iheanacho’s theatrics in Saturday’s EPL match against Watford that saw the sending off of Etienne Capoue will be reviewed by the FA after the Hornets filed an appeal on Monday.
Late on the match, Capoue and Iheanacho challenged for a ball but the Hornet’s midfielder lounged in, two-footed catching the ball.
His challenger went to ground writhing in pain, but was actually only play acting, which peeved his Nigerian compatriot Isaac Success for Watford.
Capoue was shown a straight red for the tackle with the scoreboard at the King Power Stadium at the time showing 2-0 in the 90th minute.
Two days later the London club lodged an official appeal to have the 3match suspension overturned.
Success was quoted by Watford after the match on Capoue red card:
“I spoke to Iheanacho and he said there was no contact by Capoue. I feel sorry for him because he has been one of our best players. Let’s see what the FA will do because it was never a red card.”
A decision is expected by the FA, but it may come after the FA Cup which the Frenchman is likely to miss.
