Iheanacho Faces Tough Future In Super Eagles

Date:

Leicester City of England striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is heading for tough days ahead of him in the Super Eagles, as his performance against South Africa has left the coach, Gernot Rohr unsatisfied with the ex-Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City star.

Footballlive.ng gathered ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Uganda that Iheanacho is bound to lose his preferred slot behind Odion Jude Ighalo in the Super Eagles’ attack, due to the emergence of several other options.

With Watford’s Isaac Success eventually granted the opportunity of starting against Uganda at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, plus the fast-rising form of both Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze, Iheanacho’s jolly days in the Eagles appear over.

This comes after The Foxes star looked heavy, overweight and sluggish as Nigeria’s arrow head against Bafana Bafana, after which Riohr appeared inclined to try out other options in Tuesday’s friendly.

That resorted in Success leading the attack in a a 4-2-3-1 formation in the international friendly, as Rohr dumped the 3-5-2 formation he employed on Saturday in the 1-1 draw against South Africa.

Success was picked to lead the attack as the lone striker upfront, to be flanked by Samuel Kalu and Ahmed Musa with Chukwueze as a substitute for one of the two wingers and Osimhen for the arrow head’s alternative.

Iheanacho, who had a below par game in Jo’Burg was left out altogether, while Mikel Ndubuisi Agu got a role in midfield with John Ugochukwu Ogu and ‎Oghenekaro Etebo.
