Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has added his voice to reactions about the goal scored last weekend by Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho, with a verdict that it was the right ‘tonic’ his club needed to beat Huddersfield Town.
Indeed, footballlive.ng noted that Iheanacho’s goal was an equaliser that helped The Foxes roar back from a goal down to eventually win the match 3-1, against the backdrop of which Rohr says the Eagles’ youngster made a world of difference for his side.
Rohr hinted that it is a good sign coming from Iheanacho ahead of Nigeria’s double-fixture against Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month, and the Franco-German gaffer said it was encouraging seeing what the former Manchester City star could do.
The visitors opened scoring through Jorgensen in the 5th minute, but Iheanacho equalized for his team in the 19th minute to boost the confidence level of his team, for which Rohr says the relevance of that effort cannot be ignored.
The former Gabon, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic gaffer described Iheanacho’s effort as a ‘great goal,’ which brought about a turnaround of fortunes for Leicester on Saturday at King Power Stadium.
“That was a great goal scored by Leicester Iheanacho. His goal was the tonic for his side’s great comeback to win the match,” Rohr recounted.
