Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho is set for a return to the shadows at King Power Stadium, as The Foxes’ top scorer, Jamie Vardy is back from injury.
Heading into Saturday’s English Premier League fixture away to Chelsea, Iheanacho is bound to return to the bench, as Leicester’s boss, Claude Puel admits he is happy to have Vardy back.
However, footballlive.ng reports further that Puel inadvertently reeled out assets which the English striker has that put him ahead of Iheanacho – quality, aggressiveness, capacity and character.
Vardy has scored 20 Premier League goals since Puel replaced Craig Shakespeare as Foxes boss in October last year but the forward has often looked isolated in games.
The striker netted 24 goals to help fire Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016, with the Foxes playing a more incisive and direct brand of football under former boss Claudio Ranieri.
Though Vardy says he is struggling to adapt to Puel’s style, the French gaffer still rates him high and believes the England ex-international has better qualities and ability than Iheanacho.
Vardy returned from a groin injury in the weekend’s 1-0 loss at Crystal Palace and, though Puel did not want to rush him back to action, the coach is happy his top scorer should be in action at Stamford Bridge.
Puel said: “We need Jamie – with his ability, capacity and character – to give his best. With his quality and his aggressiveness, he is a very good player for us.
“Of course, it has been difficult for him with injuries and suspensions this season, but he is a valuable player for us and we need Jamie to be at his best for us.”
