Iheanacho’s absence raises questions before the AFCON Semifinal

Date:

Kelechi Iheanacho’s absence from the pre-match press conference ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against South Africa has fueled speculation about a rift with head coach Jose Peseiro.

Despite CAF’s announcement that Iheanacho would attend the press conference, the Leicester City forward was a no-show, with Ola Aina taking his place.

Reports suggest that Iheanacho is dissatisfied with his limited playing time during the tournament, and there are speculations about a challenge in integrating him into Peseiro’s preferred tactical system.

The situation adds an element of uncertainty to the Super Eagles’ campaign in the crucial stage of the tournament.
