Ikedia Optimistic Ahead of Second Leg

Date:

Former Nigerian international, Pius Ikedia has stated that the super falcons can make it to the summer Olympics. The falcons won 1-0 in the first leg against South Africa, and would be playing the return leg later today as they seek an Olympic ticket

The former winger said that it’ll be tough game, but the girls have an advantage. He then said they just need to believe in themselves and avoid unnecessary mistakes to qualify against South Africa.

In his exact words, the 47 year old said:

“It’ll be a tough game. We have an advantage from the first leg. It’s possible that the girls do it. They just need to believe in themselves, avoid unnecessary tackles. I watched them play in the world cup, so it’s possible”.

The Nigerian ladies seek their first Olympic appearance since Beijing in 2008, and already have a slim lead in the bag. The team take on the Banyana Banyana in Pretoria, with the aim to close out the fixture and behold their Olympic ticket.
