The Lagos State Government has committed to providing comprehensive support to Ikorodu City FC as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
This was announced by Mr. Lekan Fatodu, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, during a recent event hosted for the team.
Fatodu stated, “We are committed to ensuring Ikorodu City FC receives all the necessary support to excel in the NPFL. We wish the team great success in the upcoming 2024-25 season.”
Ikorodu City earned their promotion to the NPFL by finishing among the top four teams in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoff held in Enugu. This achievement marks their first appearance in Nigeria’s top-flight football league.
Joining Ikorodu City in the NPFL next season are Beyond Limits, Nasarawa United, and El-Kanemi Warriors. Beyond Limits were crowned champions of the 2023-24 NNL season after finishing first in the playoff tournament.
