Injury Keeps Jamilu Collins Out

Date:

Jamilu Collins did not make the trip to the Riverside Stadium with Cardiff City for the Championship match against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Collins was left out of the travelling squad after complains of a knee and hamstring problem, Cardiff City boss Erul Bulut said post-match, Tuesday.

The 29 year-old LB had missed only one of Cardiff’s last five games, where he had also completed 90minutes in all four he featured in.

”Jamilu Collins already had pain on his knee from the last game, and also with his hamstring. We didn’t take the risk of putting him out to play today( Tuesday), ” the Cardiff manager said.

Bulut was dealing with injuries to several key players heading into the game against Boro, but also acknowledged that fatigue cost his team points.

Boro scored twice in the second half, first through Isaiah Jones (56′), before Emmanuel Latte Lath sealed the win with an 84th minute strike.

The Bluebirds lost, and it halted their run of four straight league wins; they bounced back from their Cup defeat to Blackburn with a 2-0 home win over Rotherham last weekend.

Speaking after the match on Tuesday, the Bluebirds boss said:

“In the first half, both teams were tactically concentrated, and didn’t allow many chances.

“Neither side had many chances in the first half. One or two, nothing special.

”In the second half, we showed a little bit of tiredness, because we travelled after only two days, so we could not recover really well.

“We could see the tiredness on the field, and we have many injuries. But it is not an excuse.

”It’s normal, because after the opponent scored we had to go and take risks to open them and get our chances. But, the opponent was playing well and didn’t allow us to make chances.“

Cardiff will go again on Saturday when they host Watford at the Cardiff City Stadium.
