It’s Sad We Have to Play Nigeria and Benin Again – Spittler

Date:

The head coach of the Rwanda national team, Torsten Spittler, has expressed his frustration about facing Nigeria and Benin again in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Rwanda has been drawn in Group D alongside Nigeria, Benin, and Libya. Notably, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Benin are already competing in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers.

Currently, Rwanda tops Group C with 7 points, tied with Benin but ahead on goal difference. Nigeria, on the other hand, is struggling and sits fifth in the table with 3 points.

“It’s actually a little bit sad that we have two teams in the group, Nigeria and Benin, with whom we are also playing in the same group in the World Cup qualifiers. But it is as it is,” stated the 62-year-old.

Rwanda has never qualified for a World Cup finals and reached their only Africa Cup of Nations in 2004.
