Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has admitted that he is optimistic of his club’s title chances in the English Premier League this season, but says they have to keep fighting and remain consistent.
Iwobi, who was again in top form during Sunday’s 5-1 win away to Fulham, enthused that The Gunners are already adapting to the tactics of their new manager, Unai Emery, and footballlive.ng can report that he believes the team will get even better with time.
Iwobi believes Sunday’s stunning away win means The Gunners are EPL title contenders, especially as the London club were on an eight-match unbeaten run before the game with Fulham.
Although Arsenal did lose their first two games of the season – versus Manchester City and Chelsea – they have now won every game since then, and Iwobi says that is the stuff champions are made of.
Iwobi enthused: “When we lost the first two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, we were calm, and when we are winning now, I think we need to be in the same way in our mentality.
“We are going up in the table little by little giving us a better position for our objective. The team spirit is better. The confidence is definitely better.
“We analyse the games a bit more and we’re proving to the fans as well as ourselves that we’re able to compete for the title.
“But there’s a long way to go. It’s a marathon, so we just have to carry on being consistent. …. We’re not afraid to play anyone. We’re playing without fear, we want to be consistent and keep it going.
“I am just thinking about the next match against Leicester at the Emirates, in our home, with our supporters. I want to give them and to show them we are improving with our quality, with our mentality and above all with commitment we had.”
