Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi is basking in the euphoria of a new record he enacted in the English Premier League last weekend, as his goal against Chelsea has been cited to have from the longest possession minutes by any club so far this season.
Although The Gunners eventually lost 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, after Iwobi initially put them level heading into half time, the Super Eagles star takes personal delight in the fact that his goal came after a record of 19 passes involving 10 different players on his side.
The mark was set after the 22-year-old rounded off a team effort to get his side back in contention against The Blues, and the effort is so far the longest move for a goal in the 2018-19 Premier League season.
Iwobi rifled a cutback from Henrikh Mkhitaryan past Kepa Arrizabalaga to keep the scoreline levelled going into half-time.
It was Iwobi’s first goal in the two-week old EPL campaign, but Arsenal sit 17th in the log, having lost both opening games, and will hope to bounce back when they lock horns with West Ham United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Iwobi took to social media to celebrate his feat, stating: “Happy to score, and glad to get a new record with it. Need victory next time out.”
