Former soccer star, Andy Gray has taken another look at Alex Iwobi’s goal for Arsenal at the weekend, and reckons that the Super Eagles’ star had it on a platter of gold from Mesul Ozil’s delectable move.
Footballlive.ng reports that Iwobi returned to scoring form after a poor run of form for club and country, but Gray is looking more at The Gunners’ star midfielder, Ozil for credit on the preceding move.
Prior to scoring in Saturday’s game against Burnley, Iwobi was without a goal in the English Premier League for more than four months, and Gray says he has Ozil to thank for turning the situation around.
Gray, who now works as a pundit, praised Ozil for the buildup to Iwobi’s goal, which was the last for Arsenal in their 3-1 win at Emirates Stadium.
A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners a two-goal advantage, Ashley Barnes halved the deficit from close range before Iwobi killed the game off in the first minute of stoppage time.
In response, Gray opined that there was no way Iwobi would have missed scoring after the ball fell kindly to him from Ozil’s build-up.
”Mesut Ozil again at the heart of this goal, he makes a lovely little run just through the center of the defense, he’s just about the penalty spot.
”He’s got four players, he tries a shot and gets blocked but it only runs to Alex Iwobi and from six yards he can’t miss,” Gray submitted.
