Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi and Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho have both expressed gratitude to soccer fans in Port Harcourt for the cordial reception and massive support they accorded the Super Eagles during their stay in The Garden City.
Though the Eagles had to settle for a 1-1 in their send forth match played in Port Harcourt on Monday, Iwobi and Iheanacho insist the fans rallied round the national team in training and during the encounter to make them feel truly at home.
Incidentally, Iheanacho was substituted by Iwobi at half time, but both England-based stars are unanimous in the positive verdict about the fans in PH.
With the Eagles now heading out to England for the next phase of their final lap of preparations for the World Cup, Iwobi and Iheanacho says they will remember the support in Port Harcourt as a huge boost for their efforts at the World Cup.
They thanked the fans for their all-round support the team in their farewell game against DR Congo at Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium.
“Our Supporters Are The Best,” Iwobi tweeted, and Iheanacho added: “Thanks to all the fans that came to support Naija.”
