Iwobi Leads 11 Nigerians In Gunners’ Squad Lists

Date:

A total of 11 players of Nigerian descent have been listed officially among players in various squads of Arsenal, with The Gunners’ main team player, Alex Iwobi leading the roll call.

Of the lot, Iwobi is the only player to feature for the London club in the English Premier League this season, and the 22-year-old is named among eight home-grown players in the side’s 24-man squad list.

Aide Iwobi, 10 Nigerians are included in the squad as U21 players but only nine can play in the Premier League, as Kelechi Nwakali has been loaned out to FC Porto for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

The other nine players classed as under-21s are Ryan Alebiousu, Xavier Amaechi, Folarin Balogun, Tolaji Bola, Arthur Okonkwo, James Olayinka, Joseph Olowu, Tobi Omole and Bukayo Saka.
