Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has been tipped among the lads to help The Gunners’ new arrival, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang settle down fast at Emirates Stadium.
This is the verdict of Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, who says he sees Iwobi as one of the shinning lights in attack for The Gunners, and says the Super Eagles lad is quite capable of playing well behinds ‘Auba.’
Wright further suggested that Iwobi has the right quality required for a player that wants to line up alongside Aubameyang in attack .
Wright stated as much after Aubameyang joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in a transfer fee believed to be in the neighbourhood of £60m.
Apart from Iwobi, Wright further says German midfielder, Mesut Ozil and another Gunners’ new arrival, Armenian star, Henrikh Mkhitaryan can also support Aubameyang in the attacking set up for Arsenal.
This came before Aubameyang enjoyed his first training session since joining Arsenal – but the 28-year-old was forced to practise alone as he looks to hit the ground running in north London.
The Gabon striker, who was the standout Premier League signing on a busy deadline day, could make his debut for The Gunners in Saturday’s clash with Everton.
The 28-year-old, who has scored 21 goals already this season, was all smiles as he went through some ball drills and shooting practice at the club’s London Colney base.
He was also greeted by The Gunners’ manager, Arsene Wenger, and put through dribbling drills by a member of the Arsenal coaching staff.
Aubameyang became the club’s most expensive player when he signed on Wednesday. He is also now the best-paid star in their history, having put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract worth £180,000 per week.
He was part of a deadline-day merry-go-round that also saw Olivier Giroud leave the Gunners for Chelsea and Michy Batshuayi quit Stamford Bridge to replace Aubameyang at Dortmund.
The Gabon international will wear the famous No 14 shirt at the Emirates following Theo Walcott’s departure to Everton. And the forward hopes to add his own chapter of history to the shirt.
Aubameyang said: ‘First of all I’m really happy I’m here. And of course I can join Mhki (Henrikh Mkhitaryan) at the club so I’m happy to be here in this great team.’
