Iwobi Tops Nigeria’s Value Chart With €52.4m

Date:

Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi’s amazing burst of form for club and country in recent months has seen him shoot top of the Nigerian values’ chart for top players from the country with a total haul of €52.4m earnings, footballlive.ng gathered.

In what could be a direct outcome of the new wave of respect Iwobi is earning at Arsenal, where he once again provided a crucial assist for their 1-1 draw against Liverpool last weekend, he has shot ahead of Leicester City’s Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi as Nigeria’s top earner.

Interestingly, Iwobi is now the only Nigerian player worth above €50m across the top five leagues in Europe and money-spinning divisions in China, as The Gunners’ former under-21 team captain’s blossoming stock continues to rise on and off the field of play.

Iwobi was superb for club and country in October, and played every game during the period under review for Arsenal and Nigeria, hence the increase in his value on the latest charts.

It means Iwobi is now ahead of Ndidi, who has dropped to €49.8m from €79.2m he had February 2018.

At that point, Ndidi was the most expensive African player aged below 21, but his value has reduced by €18.5m since.

Next to Ndidi is Chelsea winger, Victor Moses at (€37.4m), followed by another Leicester player, Kelechi Iheanacho (€17.5m) and fast-rising rave of the moment, Samuel Kalu from Girondins-Bordeaux of France(€8.3m).

Valued from sixth to 14th in descending order are: Isaac Success of Watford, €7.5m), Moses Simon of Levante (€6.9m), William Troost-Ekong of Udinese (€6.1m), and Ola Aina of Torino (€5.1m).

Others are Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal (€3.6m), Joel Chukwuma Obi of Chievo Verona (€3.5m), Leon Aderemi Balogun of Brighton & Hove Albion (€2.2m), Anthony Ujah -of SV Mainz (€1.7m) and Kenneth Omeruo of Leganes (€1.2m).
