Iwobi’s Final Touch Let Him Down – Report

Date:

Arsenal attack, Alex Iwobi again emerged with top marks from his gritty and sterling performance for The Gunners on Saturday, but a post-match report about the game noted his lack of effectiveness in the final touch.

Iwobi was full of running and spraying passes, plus a shot here and there, as his side lost 1-0 against West Ham United, after which footballlive.ng gathered that many reviews rated him very high.

However, despite all superlatives rolling in favour of Iwobi, two reports noted lapses in his game, with one acknowledging that he is battling in the shadow of Mesut Ozil and another pointed to lapses in his final ball.

Sadly, despite Iwobi’s battling performance, The Gunners slump to a fifth defeat of the season, which could have been different had his effort at goal in the 66th minute gone in to restore parity.

That narrow miss has now formed the climax of a scathing report, which noted Iwobi’s contribution to an otherwise insipid Arsenal squad, but noted that the Super Eagles ace could have excelled with some accuracy.

The report read in part: “Though Arsenal were unable to make the most of their attacking moves, Alex Iwobi proved to be a lively performer and the Gunners’ most effective attacking outlet once more on Saturday.

“The Nigerian has shown vast improvements and was full of energy and purpose going forward again for the visitors at the London Stadium. Iwobi was Arsenal’s attacking spark, albeit with a lack of final touch.”
