SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamliu Collins is back in contention to star for the Super Eagles against South Africa in the coming weekend.
Although Collins bowed out with a suspected injury last weekend, footballlive.ng gathered that he was back into contention with a return to action with his club.
The 24-year-old Collins will now aim to keep his place down the Eagles’ left side of defence for the AFCON 2019 qualifier at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg of November 17.
This comes after the former youth international was passed fit to star for Paderborn in their 2 Bundesliga clash against Holstein Kiel at Benteler-Arena on Friday.
Collins was back in the thick of action for Paderborn in a 4-4 draw with Holstein Kiel, with his team needing a last minute stoppage time goal to snatch a point.
He played a huge role in his team going into the half time break leading 3-1 but was helpless as Holstein fought back and were close to stealing all three points with ten minutes to go before Ben Zolinski levelled for Paderborn with virtually the last kick in regulation time.
Heading into the game, there had been doubts over Collins’ fitness, following his substitution in the 79th minute of a 2-0 loss at MSV Duisburg, but he was included in the starting line-up by his club, despite initial worries over an ankle that has also been troubling him all along.
Collins, who lined out for his 13th successive game in the German second-tier league, is now expected to report for international duty in Asaba on Monday, November 12.
