SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins has admitted he has a burning desire to line out with the Super Eagles against South Africa this weekend, as he wants another opportunity to serve Nigeria through duty with the national team.
Footballllive.ng reports that the former Flying Eagles left-back has shaken off a recent spell with injury to declare himself fit for Saturday’s reverse fixture in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Although there had been some underlining feelers that Collins was still nursing a long term ankle complaint, the youngster insists he has nothing in terms of injuries, considering that he was back in action last weekend.
Indeed, Collins returned from injury to star for Paderborn in an eight-goal thriller that ended 4-4, with his team netting a stoppage-time goal to snatch a point in a German second division encounter.
Collins, who has now played 13 matches for his German 22 Bundesliga side, said he is happy to regain full fitness and is now looking forward to the opportunity of another shirt in action with the Eagles on Saturday.
Having starred in both matches against Libya, plus an earlier exhibition friendly against Liberia, Collins has become the heir for Nigeria’s left-full back role, but the youngster is staying modest about it.
Collins stressed: “I am fit and ready to play again for my fatherland. I am so pleased to have recovered fully for the Super Eagles.”
