SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins has been put in doubt for Nigeria’s November 17th Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, after copping another injury at the weekend.
Collins, whose debut for the Super Eagles was put on hold against Seychelles last moth after injury, has already been invited to star against Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg, after starring excellently in the past two AFCON qualifiers against Libya, but his chances of a third straight appearance in the series has now been hampered.
Footballlive.ng can report that this follows a dire situation in which Collins had to be substituted in his team’s 2-0 loss to MSV Duisburg on Saturday afternoon.
The 24-year-old left-back had to receive treatment in the 75th minute after he was badly tackled by an opponent in the division two match.
Although he initially returned to the pitch, Collins could not shake off discomfort from the and had to be replaced with 11 minutes left on the clock.
Collins, who has started all 14 matches contested by Paderborn so far this season, is now in a race against time to be fit for Nigeria’s next tie in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers and a friendly against Uganda in Asaba three days later.
