Joel Obi Reveals Factors In Chievo Verona Switch

Date:

New arrival of Chievo Verona of Italy, Joel Chukwuma Obi has revealed that the biggest factor that encouraged him to accept a summer transfer offer from The Flying Donkeys was the fact that they are a very ambitious club.

While stating his delight at joining the former club of Victor Obinna Nsofor and Stephen Ayodele Makinwa, after three years with AS Torino, Obi said he was convinced to make the switch following discussions with the Verona-based side’s coach.

Obi, who has also played for Inter Milan and AC Parma, added that he is now hoping to settle down fast in order to contribute to what he calls Chievo’s progressive project.

The 27-year-old Obi, who was in the stands on Sunday when his new teammates defeated Pescara 1-0 in a Coppa Italia fixture in Verona, said he feels fulfilled after joining his latest Serie A side.

After putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Chievo, the injury-prone midfielder said he is already excited with opportunities he will get to represent his new club and said he hopes for positive outings with The Flying Donkeys in the new season.

Obi disclosed: “I am very happy to have joined Chievo, a very ambitious club. From the time I spoke with the manager, I was impressed by the project and I hope to be part of the success.”
