The captain of the Super Eagles John Mikel Obi undergoes medicals at EPL club Middlesbrough ahead of signing for the Championship club.
Mikel is set to join Middlesbrough after spending two years in Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League.
The former Chelsea midfielder, 31, travelled from London to the north-east 2days back after agreeing personal terms with the club in question .
Roma and Wolfsburg registered an interest but the Nigerian international wanted to return to England, where his lover and two young children resides.
Mikel will be plying trade along side Tony Pulis in bringing back Premier League football back to the Riverside next season.
