John Owoeri Scores For Shanghai Shenxin

Shanghai Shenxin of China striker, John Owoeri was on song for his second division club, but his goal was not enough to get them victory, as his side lost 3-1 against their hosts, Shenzen.

The former youth international had been hoping to make an impact in the Chinese League One fixture at Shenzen City Stadium, but his goal was a mere consolation for Shanghai Shenxin.

Owoeri, though, got personal satisfaction when he pulled his team level in the 27th minute but Frank Ohandza’s brace for the hosts was enough to propel the hosts to victory.

In England, Nicky Ajose was on target for Charlton Athletic in a 2-1 win over Welling United, as the former Manchester United youth-teamer cancelled the opponents’ opening goal from a tight angle.

Also at the weekend, Leyton Orient’s new signing, James Alabi also struck one in his side’s 5-4 loss to Benfica’s B-team, as he slotted home from the spot into the bottom left corner to open the floodgates in the first half.

Bournemouth were held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla, Jordon Ibe scored a fine individual goal for the Cherries.

The former Liverpool winger who came on in the second half of the match, raced through the opposition back line to score after Wissam Ben Yedder had put Sevilla in front.

Jonathan Obika helped himself to a double for Oxford United in a 5-1 victory over their local rivals, Oxford City.

Shandon Baptiste set up the striker for his first before he grabbed his second of the match in the second half, finishing well following a cross from Armani Little.
