Second assistant coach of Nigeria’s U17 national team Jolomi Atune has stated boldly that the team will emerge as winners of the 2018 WAFU B U17 championship and pick the ticket to the 2019 U17 AFCON.
As early as the 10th minute of play, the Nigerian team went two goals up courtesy of Olakunle Olusegun and Olatomi Olaniyan.
Hassan Hussain, Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi and Akinwunmi Amoo got on the scoresheet as the five-time World champions went five goals up.
The Ivorians reduced the tally from the penalty spot.
Speaking to Footballlive.ng following Eaglets’ 5-1 thumping of Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday, Jolomi Atune says the Nigerian side will have no problem whatsoever making it out of the group and having to wait after putting 5 goals past the Ivorians.
“It was a very easy game for us. We wanted to win and deservedly scored at the right time. I salute the boys,” Atune told Footballlive.ng.
“We are already looking beyond the group stage following the victory against Cote d’Ivoire.”
“Our target is the sole ticket for this zone and that means going all the way to the final and winning,” he added.
