New Super Eagles invitees, Samuel Kalu from Girondins-Bordeaux of France and SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins look good to start Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles, following their great form in training.
While Kalu is expected to line out on the right side of attack in a 4-3-3 formation, with Ahmed Musa on the left, Collins is expected to be the left-back in a four-man defence line that will have Kenneth Omeruo and Leon Aderemi Balogun in the centre.
Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr is most likely to stick with Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo as the arrow head in the three-man attack line.
Feelers from the Eagles’ training sessions also indicate that Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi will return to the starting line-up, after his falling out with the coach and team captain, John Mikel Obi at the World Cup.
With Mikel missing for Saturday’s game, Onazi is now set to anchor the midfield and captain the side, along with Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo, with Brian Idowu on the right side of defence and Francis Odinaka Uzoho in goal.
The team perfected their formation with Rohr almost certain to adopt a 4-3-3 formation, with Henry Onyekuru, Onazi and Ighalo particularly impressing in training.
Galatasaray of Turkey forward, Onyekuru showed that he can be a very good option on the flanks, as he displayed pace and tricks that were too splendid to handle in training.
The session at Stade Linite on Friday evening, with all 21 invited players fit for selection to garner the three points on offer for Nigeria.
