Kalu Rates High Against Zenit St. Petersburg

Rave reviews are still trailing Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu, following his top-grade performance against Zenit Saint-Petersburg of Russia in the Europa League.

 

Footballlive.ng gathered from latest reviews of the match that Kalu was the most outstanding player during Thursday’s European clubs second-tier competition fixture at Stade Matmut-Atlantique.

Though Kalu has a contract until the end of the 2022-2023 season with Bordeaux, which he joined this past summer from KAA Gent, he put himself into the radar of several transfer options.

Kalu was the cynosure of all eyes, as his French Ligue 1 outfit were held to a 1-1 draw by Zenit, with technical buffs from a total of 16 clubs in attendance.

Among them were Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester United, Fulham, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, from England, as well as Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal, Eibar and Real Sociedad from Spain.

Similarly present were scouts from Stade Rennes, Marseille, Saint-Etienne, Paris Saint-Germain and Strasbourg, while Juventus also had a representative in from Italy.

After missing Bordeaux’ last league match due to a throat ailment, Kalu returned to the starting line-up and went the distance against the Russian opponents, ending with a best individual game rating of 7.58.

Kalu finished the match with four shots of which two were on target, made a game-high four key passes and had a team-high four dribbles.
