Former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu has joined in celebrating the Nigerian national team’s 4-0 win against Libya in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo, footballllive.ng can report.
Kanu, who also captained Nigeria’s under-23 national team to become the first African country to win the Olympic Games’ soccer gold medal at Atlanta ’96, said the massive win on Saturday made him proud to be a Nigerian.
Fondly called ‘Papilo’ during his playing days, Kanu hinted that he would love to see the eagles keep winning and avoid resting on their oars.
That would be a poignant reminder for the team to keep their feet on the throttle for Tuesday’s second leg against Libya in Sfax, Tunisia, as Kanu stated via social media that the team should keep winning.
Kanu wrote on his Twitter handle, @papilokanu: “Congratulations. Well done boys. keep making us proud and keep winning.#nigeria #supereagles.”
