Katsina United will hope to bounce back today after a slim loss to CAF Confederation Cup semifinalists Enyimba when they face the giants killer J. Atete FC in the matchday2 of the on-going 2018 Aiteo Cup group stage at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
‘The Chanji Boys’ must get a win in this encounter to remain in contention.
A young J. Atete popularly referred to as the giant killers in the competition after they defeated the likes of Heartland FC in the round of 64 and Go Round FC in the round of 32 will pose a lot of threat as they will also want to avoid defeat so as to keep the hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals alive.
Katsina United are third on Group A table while J. Atete are fourth due to their two goals deficit after losing 3 – 1 to the 2017 league champions, who are now topping the table as Enyimba occupy second place.
Head coach of Katsina United Abdullahi Biffo told www.fckatsinaunited.com that the game against J. Atete is a must-win match if they want to advance to the next stage of the competition.
“Yes, we still have the opportunity to make up for the first game defeat against Enyimba,” he said.
“It is a must-win match because we are on zero point now and for us to advance to the next stage of the competition we must get as many point as possible.
“We are focused and positive that we will get the needed result as my boys are ready and in a good spirit to get the job done.
“J. Atete are crop of young raw talents, they are physical and fast on the ball. This is the more reason we will not underrate them. We will go all out to ensure that we get the maximum points.”
