Remo Stars’ goalkeeper, Kayode Bankole, has expressed that he has his sights on surpassing the 16-game clean sheets record in the NPFL this season and also win the league with the club.
Kayode Bankole currently has 14 clean sheets to his name so far this season. The record is currently held by Kwara United’s Adewale Adeyinka and he achieved this in the 2020/2021 NPFL season.
When asked if he has his sights on the record this season, Kayode Bankole expressed his desire to own the record and more importantly, win the league title with Remo Stars who are currently on 49 points, just two behind leaders Enugu Rangers and Lobi Stars who are on 51 points respectively, with a game in hand.
“Yeah, definitely. I think two seasons ago I was on that 16. I got to that 16 but I wasn’t able to surpass that 16 you get. So of course for what we want this season, definitely I want to do more than that. We want to surpass and set the new record. And for us, we want to win the league. So that really is very, very important to us,” he told Brila Media.
Kayode Bankole has been a consistent performer for Remo Stars. He won the award for the goalkeeper of the year last season and he is well on course to win the award again at the end of this season.
