Kayode Eventually Settles For Amiens Switch

Date:

Former youth international, Olarewaju Kayode has finally settled for a deal at French Ligue 1 strugglers, Amiens on a loan from Manchester City of England, with an obligation to finally buy him outright should he perform well.

It is another move in search of the Golden Fleece for the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation, who made top marks for Austria Wien but failed to find his feet at Girona of Spain, who hooked him on loan just few days after he signed for Man City.

The 24-year-old striker, fondly called ‘Larry,’ who made his first steps abroad with ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and FC Luzern of Switzerland, is preparing to join his fifth club.

This is sequel to his inability to shine for Girona, which he joined after signing for City last summer from Vienna, where he enjoyed a purple patch and was top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga.

The centre forward was a predominant figure at Vienna before joining City, making 48 appearances and scoring 24 goals, including five in the Europa League qualifying rounds and group stages.

However, Kayode has not scored a single goal since leaving Vienna, despite making 12 league appearances for Girona in the first half of this season but failed to score with his last senior goal coming in May last year.

He becomes the seventh player to be loaned out this month by City including new boy Jack Harrison, who joined earlier in the window from New York City.
