Kayode Turns Focus On Winning Ukrainian League

Date:

Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine striker, Olanrewaju Kayode (Larry) has turned his focus in winning the league title with his club, following their conquest of the domestic cup on Wednesday.

Kayode, who is on loan from Manchester City, said he was happy to be part of the historic Donetsk side that beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 to retain the Ukrainian Cup, and give him his first piece of silverware since arriving from Girona of Spain.

Kayode, who beat a hasty exit from Girona, where his loan spell in La Liga turned into a nightmare, said he is happy to relive the glory days he enjoyed at Austria Wien, during which he was crowned top scorer in the league.

Things are again looking rosy for the ex-youth international, who went on for one of his club’s goals scorer, Facundo Ferreyra after 76 minutes, said it was a proud moment to be part of the Cup-winning squad after only four months with the club.

Kayode, who further admitted he was fortunate to be in action when he won his first trophy with any European club, dedicated the glory to God and appreciated the role played in his success by his wife, Zinny.

‘Kay’ beamed with delight and declared: “I can’t explain how I feel lifting my first trophy in Europe. I am super excited with this achievement.

“I dedicate this trophy to God Almighty who made it possible for me to be part of the winning team and to my darling wife, Zinny Kayode who has been my backbone.”

“I can’t explain the feeling right now, as I am super-super excited; the atmosphere right now is electrifying and everyone just wants to celebrate this moment.”
