Former Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali is heading back to Arsenal this summer, after a successful loan stint with MVV Maastricht in Holland’s second division.
Nwakali joined Arsenal in 2016, only for his chances of turning out for The Gunners’ main team jettisoned by work permit issues, but he will now seek a better return after excelling in the Dutch Eerste divisie.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning skipper then joined MVV for a second loan stint in January and more than bolstered his stock, scoring four goals from midfield in 18 outings across all competitions.
He is set to rejoin the North London club for pre-season training but is likely to be farmed out on loan again due to paperwork issues.
Alongside Nwakali, Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom is also expected to return from his adventure with Belgian club, Sint-Truiden and await further developments.
Akpom, a former England U21 star, previously enjoyed loan spells at Hull City, Coventry City, Brentford Town, Brighton Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest.
