Banyana Banyana’s forward, Thembi Kgatlana, remains optimistic about her team’s chances despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to the Super Falcons in the first leg of their Olympic Games qualifying round.
The lone goal of the match came from a penalty converted by Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade in the 43rd minute. While Kgatlana expressed her disappointment with the result, she remains confident in her team’s ability to bounce back in the second leg.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Kgatlana said, “The result will be on Tuesday. We will be at home, familiar with the conditions, and that will be an advantage.”
The upcoming second leg will take place at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday. With only one goal separating the two teams, Banyana Banyana will be looking to overturn the deficit and secure their spot in the Olympics in Paris.
