The general manager of Kwara United, Bashir Badawiy, has disclosed to sports journalists in Ilorin on Monday that at least 22 players of Kwara United Football Club, Ilorin, Kwara State, have been released ahead of the next season.
Badawiy, however, stated that 23 top stars from the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) have been recruited to strengthen the club ahead of the 2024/25 NPFL season.
He added that high-quality players have agreed to join the team, including Abayomi Samuel from 3SC, Jimi Iteji from Plateau United, top-class goalkeepers, National team U17, U20, U23, and CHAN Eagles players, including Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar as well as Ifeanyi Ogba from NPFL Champions, Rangers International.
“Our expectation in the 2024/25 NPFL season is to finish among top three, we don’t want to struggle again; check our records in the last two seasons, we were among the top four and even qualified for continental,” he said.
Kwara United will be participating in the upcoming Valuejet Preseason tournament held in Ikenne, Ogun State, starting on July 24, 2024.
