Kylian Mbappé, France’s star forward, will miss the next game at Euro 2024 after sustaining a broken nose in their opening match against Austria.
Sources have confirmed to that while Mbappé does not require surgery, which would have ruled him out of the tournament, he will be wearing a custom-made mask upon his return to the field.
The French Football Federation (FFF) stated that the decision to forgo surgery means Kylian Mbappé could potentially return to play sooner than initially feared.
However, he will definitely miss the upcoming match against the Netherlands scheduled for Friday. France’s management is opting for caution, prioritizing Mbappé’s health to ensure his availability for the latter stages of the tournament.
FFF President Philippe Diallo conveyed optimism about Mbappé’s recovery during a news conference, stating, “The news is rather reassuring. There won’t be an operation in the short term. Concerning his return, it is premature today to give a timetable; we’re going to wait for the latest information from the doctor this morning.”
