Libya’s Captain Suspended; Ndidi, 3 Others On Yellow

Date:

Libya’s plans for Tuesday’s reverse fixture against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers have been hit with a huge blow, as the team’s captain, Muhammad Nashnoush is suspended; but four Super Eagles players face similar sanctions for their next game against Seychelles.

While Libya will be without Nashnoush on Tuesday, Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo and Kelechi Iheanacho all have yellow cards against them in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

Heading into Tuesday’s second leg, footballlive.ng gathered that the continent’s soccer body, Confederation of African Football (CAF) have banned the Libyan goalkeeper from playing against Nigeria.

The captain of the Mediterranean Knights got the hammer after he went into the referee’s bad book in the fifth minute of his side’s 4-0 loss to Nigeria in Uyo last Saturday, while protesting a penalty against his side.

The Al-Ahly Tripoli star, who was in goal when Libya won CHAN 2014 in South Africa, has seen 90 minutes in all matches played by the North Africans in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.
