Lookman Caps Off Club Season With A Goal and Assist

In a thrilling encounter at the Gewiss Stadium, Fiorentina edged past Atalanta with a 3-2 victory. The match saw a flurry of early goals, setting the tone for a gripping contest.

Fiorentina’s Andrea Belotti opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a well-taken goal, courtesy of a precise assist from Gaetano Castrovilli. However, Atalanta responded swiftly. Just six minutes later, Ademola Lookman equalized, finishing clinically after a setup by Charles De Katalaere.

 

The visitors were not to be denied, though, as Nicolas Gonzalez restored Fiorentina’s lead in the 19th minute. Gonzalez’s finish, assisted by Cristiano Biraghi, showcased Fiorentina’s attacking prowess.

Atalanta continued to fight back and found their second equalizer of the match in the 32nd minute. Giorgio Scalvini was the scorer this time, with Lookman turning provider to set up the goal. The match was balanced on a knife-edge, with both sides displaying impressive attacking play.

The decisive moment came in stoppage time of the first half. Andrea Belotti struck again for Fiorentina, making it 3-2 with a goal assisted by Lucas Martinez Quarta. Belotti’s brace proved to be the match-winner, as the second half saw no further goals despite numerous opportunities for both teams.

 

Atalanta’s efforts to find a third equalizer were thwarted by a resolute Fiorentina defense. With this result, Atalanta finished their season in 4th place with 69 points, securing a spot in the Champions League. Fiorentina’s victory saw them end the season in 8th place with 60 points, giving them another chance at the Uefa Europa Conference league.
