Lookman Goal Not Enough as Bologna Comeback

Date:

Gian Pierro Gasperini has now failed to taste victory with his Atalanta side in their last three games. The Gewiss stadium crowd had their hope snatched away when Thiago Motta’s side came visiting.

Atalanta hosted fourth placed Bologna and the home side appeared bright from the beginning as they created more opportunities in the first half. Of their two shots on target in the first 45, Ademola Lookman would convert one to rile up the home crowd just before the half hour mark.

The second half was a different story as Bologna did more of the penetration with just 39% possession at their disposal. 22 year sensation, Joshua Zirkzee scored from the penalty spot to put the away team back on level terms in the 57th minute.

Lewis Ferguson completed the comeback for Bologna just four minutes after the equalizer as he drilled his volley into the bottom corner to beat Marco Carnesecchi. Thiago Motta’s side did just enough to hold on for their three points.

Atalanta currently sit sixth with 46 points from 27 games played. They now prepare to play Sporting Lisbon in the Europa league before taking on Juventus back on home front.

Bologna have collected 51 points from 27 games ad they currently sit fourth in the league, and they host Inter Milan next.
