Everton of England returnee, Ademola Lookman showed just why the club are reluctant to allow him join RB Leipzig of Germany permanently this summer, as his hit a hat-trick in The Toffees’ first pre-season game of their European tour.
Lookman was a sensation on loan at Leipzig last season in the German Bundesliga, hence the club’s desire to have him back in full, but Everton are playing hardball over that possibility, and the youngster justified all his rating at the weekend.
Lookman’s latest thriller on the pitch came 22-0 hammering of Austrian Landesliga outfit, ATV Irdning on Saturday afternoon, as he hit a hat-trick before he was replaced at the interval.
The Nigerian-born England youth international’s efforts ensured Everton got their biggest ever win in their history, surpassing their previous record of 14-0, which stood for 133 years.
Marco Silva’s side led 5-0 after 16 minutes, thanks to goals from Leighton Baines, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and two from Cenk Tosun, before Lookman ran riot.
He made it 6-0 in the 18th minute, scored his second on 29 minutes and then tapped home a cross from Tosun to increase the lead nine minutes before half-time.
The pick of Lookman’s goals was his first, as he headed into the penalty area after receiving a pass from Tom Davis before firing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper.
