Everton are looking desperate to keep their Nigerian-born winger, Ademola Lookman for a return to Goodison Park next season, following a successful stint on loan at RB Leipzig of Germany, as The Toffees have snubbed a £12m offer for him by the Bundesliga outfit
Lookman spent half of last season on loan at Leipzig, during which he scored four goals in his last five appearances, and Everton have no intention of selling the 20-year-old, who they bought for £10m from Charlton Athletic in January 2017.
The development is seen as a reaction to the decision by Everton’s new boss, Marco Silva not to let the England U20 World Cup-winning winger go.
However, while Everton want to keep Lookman, he has made it known that he wants to leave the club due to his lack of playing opportunities.
The 20-year-old, who made 24 appearances for The Toffees’ first team, is seen by Everton’s Portuguese gaffer as a valuable member of his squad heading into next season and is likely to use him more regularly than his predecessor.
Lookman, who wants more regular playing time if he is to remain at Goodison Park, has, however, returned to pre-season training with his teammates and is expected to play in their opening friendly against Bury Town on July 18.
