Madueke Finalises Move To PSV Eindhoven

Date:

PSV Eindhoven of Holland have unveiled Nigerian-born left-footed midfielder, Noni Madueke, after finalising his transfer from the youth team of from English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.

The 16-year-old had been linked with possible moves to Chelsea and Manchester United before his trip to The Netherlands to formalize his transfer, and has now signed a three-year deal that will keep him at PSV until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

Madueke will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Funso Ojo and Rabiu Ibrahim who both made appearances for PSV’s first team before they moved on to pastures anew.

Born in 2002, Madueke would have penned a scholarship deal with Spurs, with effect from July 1, if he did not decide to move on and continue his development in Eindhoven.

The 16-year-old Madueke, who has represented England at U15 and U16 levels, is not the first teenager of Nigerian descent to move abroad in recent seasons.

The route was led by Mandela Egbo and Keanan Bennetts, in previously joining Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2015 and 2018 respectively.

”It’s been a long day, but I am happy to be here at PSV. I think PSV are a massive club with a great history. I feel it’s club where I can best develop myself as a young player.

”I just can’t wait to grow step by step and become a first-team player,” Madueke said, after signing the dotted lines on Friday.
