Maduka Okoye Apologizes for Error in Udinese’s 3-2 Loss

Date:

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has publicly apologized to Udinese fans following his mistake in their 3-2 defeat against Serie A champions Inter Milan.

“Sorry,” Okoye wrote in an Instagram Story, acknowledging his error, which led to Inter’s Davide Frattesi scoring the opening goal.

The blunder came at a difficult personal time for Okoye, as his longtime girlfriend, Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff, announced the end of their four-year relationship just hours before the match.

In a series of emotional posts, Westhoff accused Okoye of showing a lack of respect for their family, stating, “You have no respect for the family you’ve decided to create.”

The couple shares a son, Isaiah Emilio.

Amidst this, it should be noted that the 25-year old’s error was not the sole factor in Udinese’s defeat.

Maduka Okoye has been Udinese’s number-one goalkeeper since last year.

The club now turns its focus to their next Serie A match against Lecce on October 5, hoping to recover from the loss.
